FAQ
Q: Why canvas prints?
A: With so many people these days using digital cameras it is worrying that most photos never make it to print. In the past people had photos printed so that they could be enjoyed by their friends, families and future generations. Even if you do have your photos printed, often they spend their life hidden away in an album.
Q: Why is there a two/three - order minimum required for the smaller dimensions?
A: Our canvas comes in 1118mm wide rolls. We require the minimum to eliminate paper waste and to cover material costs like the frames and inks.
Q: What do I need to know regarding custom sizes?
A: Custom sizes will result in some image loss. If you would like a custom size, we can evaluate the image for you to see how much image will be cropped out. To have us evaluate an image for a specific size, send us an email and include the image and the size you would like. We respond to most requests within 24 hours. By the way, custom sizes can be done at no additional cost!
Q: How long does it take to get my photos printed on canvas?
A: Canvas Connection Prints are all custom-made from scratch and does require adequate time to produce a high-quality product. With that said though, our turnaround times are pretty fast. Our standard production time is 3-4 business days. However, during special holiday periods these timelines could vary slightly. If you are in a rush, we can prioritize your order and move it up in line. The cost for a rush order is the order price plus 20%.
Q: Why would an image need cropping?
A: Different photos fit different aspect ratios. If your photo is getting cropped, it’s because the size you’ve selected is a different aspect ratio than the image you’ve uploaded.
Q: How big can I print my photo?
A: For an overview, visit our Print Size Calculator and Digital Image Tips pages.
Q: What canvas do you use?
A: The Canvas Connection prints are printed on HP Matte canvas. Our 100% cotton canvas is water resistant and offers fantastic colour reproduction delivering superb quality. Cotton produces a much higher grade lasting canvas print as opposed to lower quality materials. Cotton canvas also stretches a lot less over time so the canvas print has very little chance of becoming loose on the stretcher frame. All prints are coated with a quality protective coating which protects against moisture, UV and dust.
Q: What kind of wood do you use for your frames?
A: We use Apollon tongue-and-groove stretcher bars with a 1.5 profile to ensure that no warping takes place.
Q: What is the difference between a canvas and a museum wrap?
A: A canvas wrap (also know as a gallery wrap) is where the image wraps around the frame of the print. A museum wrap is when an image does not wrap around the frame, the edges can be made a color of your choice. White is the default option. If you prefer another colour, please specify it in the comments field on the order form.
Q: Do you offer photo collages or Instagram photo mosaic canvas?
A: We can create a collage of multiple photographs into just about any design that you can imagine. Upload the individual photos that you would like us to use in your collage. Please tell us how you would like to arrange your images. There are endless collage arrangements so your assistance in providing us with an idea of what you are looking for and as much detail as possible will help us to create what works for you. The cost of creating a photo collage is a flat fee rate of $50 per order.
Q: What does photo editing/retouching/restoration include?
Generally, photographs can always use a little touching up. This includes color adjustments, contrast, cropping, and other minor changes. We always make minor changes to the photograph before printing, free of charge.
Sometimes, however, customers request photo editing and/or restoration to photographs in order to remove scratches, torn images, removing unwanted objects, or even Photoshop a person into a photograph. If you would like major changes to your photographs, then the editing, retouching, or restoration fee of $20 will apply. In all cases, we will contact you to let you know exactly what can or cannot be done before we charge you for it. Please use the comments section on the order form to explain what you would like done with as much detail as possible.
The editing, retouching and restoration fee includes the work to make the desired modifications to ONE photograph. When the changes are made, all of the copies printed from that photograph include the changes. Hence, only one editing/retouching/restoration fee per photograph. Each separate photograph--that is, each photograph with an individual ID number--that you want edited, retouched, or restored requires a separate fee.
Q: What payment methods are required?
